Relationship by Design: Exploring the creative relationship between the designer and the manufacturer

Curated by Felicia Ferrone and sponsored by Shared-Practice.com, this groundbreaking exhibition of contemporary design was presented at NeoCon 2012 highlighted the works of 14 internationally known, Chicago based design studios. Relationship by Design explored the relationship formed between designer and manufacturer during these self-initiated projects. Innovations in materials, processes and typologies are often the result of designers working closely with manufacturers. Enhanced research capabilities, new distribution channels and crowd funding encourage many designers to produce their own work, bypassing traditional licensing models. The selection included a wide range of objects from furniture to tabletop products.

LONDON, UK - Bernhardt Design, in collaboration with curators Dominique Gonfard and Adriana Gelves, presented AMERICA MADE ME, an exhibition looking at the spirit, personality and talent behind contemporary American design. AMERICA MADE ME, presented at Design Junction, brought to London's global stage, a first-of-a-kind group show of the United States' most celebrated contemporary designers and brands.

Featuring thirteen designers and seven manufacturing brands, AMERICA MADE ME presented a glimpse into the range of methods, materials and movements that drive the country’s design market. The work of exciting emerging designers, like Steve Oh, Felicia Ferrone, Jonathan Nesci and Mike & Maaike, is showcased alongside that of more established designers, such as Jonah Takagi, Lindsey Adelman and Joe Doucet, introducing to London both the breadth and coherence of the American aesthetic.
